Volumetric lifting is supposed to fill the face volume, depleted because of age or specific anatomical configuration of subcutaneous face tissue. With the passage of time, subcutaneous tissue undergoes gradual decay and, at some point, this becomes visible and has unfavourable impact onto the face appearance. Moreover, as a result of loss of skin elasticity, cheeks are sagging and cause development of creases, furrows and falling down of the lips corners.
Is this a painful treatment?
During the treatment, the patient experiences not a very unpleasant feeling of “expansion” in the subcutaneous layer; therefore, before the treatment the doctor makes a decision (in consultation with the patient) on possible administration of local anaesthetic. The implant is elastic, soft and has a uniform consistency, identical with the patient’s tissue and, as such, it is invisible and insensible. To distribute it evenly, delicate massage is performed.
When does the effect appear and how long does it last?
The treatment guarantees spectacular and instant effects which last for app. 18-24 months. The patient may return to normal activity immediately after the treatment.
An implant during the absorption stage provides excellent hydration of surrounding tissues which results in the effect of relaxed and healthy skin. Small haematomas sometimes appear after the treatment, but these can be perfectly masked with correction makeup.
In the hands of an experienced doctor, this is a relatively simple, quick and safe procedure.
The preparation is injected by means of a special needle with a blunt end, through a cut in the hairy skin of the head. The cut is app. 1.5 mm long and 24 hours after the treatment it is invisible. Injections may also be made with a traditional needle, deeply towards the subcutaneous tissue and in certain areas – such as the lower jaw or the chin – they must reach to the bone.
After treatment, strong sunlight exposition (tanning bed) and heating (sauna) ought to be avoided for two weeks.
