Radiesse (Calcium hydroxyapatite)

Treatment overview

Prolonged impact treatment, designed for filling creases and volumetric losses. Natural effect and safety of the preparation constitute additional advantages.

Hydroxyapatite is a mineral which naturally appears in the nature; it is also a component of the bones and teeth for which it acts as a scaffolding. In cosmetology, it is applied in the form of calcium hydroxyapatite, named “radiesse”. It is a filler which is commonly used in aesthetic medicine, to fill skin depletions, based on micro-spheres of hydroxyapatite suspended in a high water content gel carrier. After application of the preparation, its particles create a scaffolding at the place of injection which stimulates growth of natural collagen fibres. Yet, it is not a permanent filler. The gel carrier gets dissolved within a few months, and the micro-granules – over the following months. The effect of the preparation lasts on average for approximately 18 months, after which their degradation occurs.

The treatment is performed during the correction of cheeks, labio-nasal furrows, edge of the lower jaw, chin furrow and the mentum furrow, as well as any tissue depletions. Radiesse allows very good and natural effect of hand top rejuvenation.

Is this a painful treatment?

The treatment is nearly painless thanks to an addition of anaesthetic in the syringe.

When does the effect appear and how long does it last?

The effect is noticeable immediately after injection. As the gel medium is being absorbed, own collagen stimulation effect increases, which maintains the lasting filling effect.

Effects in particular patients depend on age, kind of skin, lifestyle and metabolic management, but also – of course – on the treated area. In case of most patients, the filling lasts for approximately 18 months.

Therapy schedule

The treatment does not require special preparations, it does not involve animal origin ingredients, it does not cause allergic reactions. Moreover, it does not require initial allergy tests.

Before the treatment:

After the treatment:

Degradation of face volume results in visible face contour loss

Instant correction 1:1

Gel matrix
CaHa micro-particles
Fibroblasts
Collagen fibres
Macrophages

1. Effect

Gel matrix with CaHA particles guarantees instant lifting effect

Applied to subcutaneous tissue, Radiesse causes instant increase of volume and, at the same time, it stimulates formation of new collagen fibres. The treatment may be repeated as needed, without any requirements with respect to intervals between them.

12 months or more

Simulation of collagen neo-genesis

Dense collagen network strengthens the dermis

2. Effect

CaHa micro-particles create a “scaffolding” and stimulate fibroblasts to produce collagen

Collagen network

A dense network of collagen fibres develops in the dermis

Post-treatment recommendations

The patient may return to his/her daily activity immediately after treatment. It does not require additional massage.

Contradictions and adverse effects

  • Active autoimmune diseases,
  • Bacterial and viral infections at the place of injection,
  • Pregnancy.

The injection may cause a temporary reaction of swelling, tenderness and redness.

Indications

  • Wrinkles
  • Loss of skin volume
  • Acne scars
  • Non-surgical nose plastics
  • Hand rejuvenation.
