Cutera Exel V Laser

Treatment overview

Cutera Excel V is the best in class vascular laser, which puts safety and comfort on the first place. Use of double-length laser wave allows treatment of a broad range of conditions, from superficial blood vessel damage to deep scars. Excel V has the capability to adjust treatment parameters to the patient’s individual needs, which allows effective and precise treatment of any vascular lesions and skin discolourations.

Is this a painful treatment?

The Excel V laser system utilises an innovative cooling technique to ensure maximum patient’s comfort during the procedure. Pain experience varies and depends on the patient’s sensitivity and the body area which the laser wave operates on.

When does the effect appear and how long does it last?

Effects of the treatment are visible immediately after the first session. Depending on the area covered by the lesions and the body part, a series of treatments may be needed. In most cases, therapy covers three exposition sessions at two-week intervals.

Preparation before the treatment

  • Do not tan (sun, tanning bed, tanning creams) for at least 3 weeks before the treatment,
  • Hair in the area to be treated should be shaved off just before the treatment (do not use chemical epilation products),
  • Do not drink alcohol on the day of treatment (alcohol has negative impact onto laser therapy),
  • Retinol containing creams – stop using 1 month before the treatment.

Post-treatment recommendations

Continuous cooling before, during and after each laser impulse minimises the risk of complications and shortens the convalescence. Minor swelling and redness may remain for up to a few hours after the procedure. Formation of micro-scabs which fall off after 3-6 days has been observed in some infrequent cases. Please do not scratch them off as this may result in development of scars. SPF 50 sun protection is required after treatment. For 4 weeks, the patient should also refrain from treatments involving blood vessel distension, such as sauna or infrared.
